hop – hop – hello!

It is Easter holidays in South-Africa and many of us have some extra time to relax, knit and crochet, and possibly finishing some WIP’s.

The best of a little time off for me is spending time with family and friends.

Here is a free printable tag that you can use for name placements when you are dishing up an Easter feast.

Or add one to your Easter baskets and anywhere in your home where you want some cute bunny inspiration.

….thank you

I’m sure you will agree that if one really looks at life there is so many things to be grateful for.
One of those things are friendships.

I made these two little thank you cards to say thank you to you for following our blog, it is really amazing to see your likes and comments! To meet like minded-crazy-for-wool-addicts is something I’m very grateful for.

These two cards where also inspired by a very creative friend who gave me something truly beautiful last week.

*you know who you are *

inspiration tuesday

My daughter is going to UCT next year and I want to give her a crochet blanket as a little gift. Something from me that she can snuggle up with.

I showed her a whole collection of blankets on pinterest and she chose the one that I actually made before. It was one of those projects that I started with great enthusiasm and when I got halfway I just stopped and added a border…. It is now a small blanket  that only covers your knees and not the majestic blanket that should cover your whole bed….

So two weekends ago I started the blanket and this picture says it all….

jasper and the blokkies

We chose Vinnis Colours Bambi for the blanket, and the blanket is made up from different sized blocks.

i cant wait to share the finished blanket with you! i will share the full pattern details too.

Still a long way to go and I hope that I will, for once in my life, finish a proper blanket and not turn it into a knee blanket!

hello wednesday

Don’t you all just love the internet? The way we can chat, share and get inspired even though we are far apart?

The only thing lacking with being online and sharing our creativity in front of computer screens, is that, when you are with fellow wool loving ladies, you get the full experience!

That’s why I can’t wait for the CROCHET-AND-KNIT-WEEKEND GETAWAY!  The 24-26th of October will be about enjoying the luxury of undisturbed crocheting or knitting.

I hope that YOU will join myself, Cornel and Anisa, bring some WOOL…….and of course the 45 possible ideas that the wool can turn into.

Prepare to be inspired by the amazing friends that I have made through my love for wool…

crochet weekend

This week I feel blessed because something so small, like a ball of wool, has brought us together, gave us an opportunity to be creative and made us friends.

For this week’s free printable, I found an image in the Rjiksmuseum collection in The Netherlands.

You can browse the museum collection of art, clothes, sculptures and design.

Everything is free of copyright.  You can download high resolution images of art and use them as you like.

You can aIso be a curator and make your own collections!

wees cool

I found this artwork in a collection that specializes is people making things. and took a painting of ladies sitting at a table doing needlework for this tongue-in-cheek message

…….and on a more serious note I made this free printable for you, my fellow yarn lover, something that only you will understand

een lang been een kort been vandag is ek geseend

Congratulations!!! Cheryl van der Walt and Diana Viljoen each won a crochet pattern of their choice from Brenda Grobler.

hello monday

Short, sweet and to the point:

Sitting, inspired by Marie Swanepoel’s winning comment, I thought about all the ways I could translate the words into a pretty picture.

I cleared my painting-crafting-sewing-studying table (yes, I have an all-in-one kind of workspace), pulled my good craft paper and lekker ‘tiger cerise’ yarn closer and opened my white gouache paint tube … and made this free PDF for you.

Hope you like it

Creating and making things often come with a lot of self-criticism, but remember “life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful’ …and you can replace ‘life’ with almost any other word and it’s still true!

This is why Marie’s comment was so real for me.

Sitting with our wool, making something small, special or silly, we are giving ourselves time to think about life and loving. Frogging our work and starting over, learning from where we went wrong … frogging it again, and starting over.

This is how yarn mends the heart. Slowly but surely, we just need to keep on trying.

Thank you to I LOVE YARN for being part of our giveaway and sponsoring such a beautiful wool hamper! You are one lucky lady Marie!

PS I only learnt what frogging means the other day from Cornel…it means you are ripping out all your stitches to start again, and it definitely sounds like a frog to me!
