I have had the good fortune to become friends with Anisa du Plessis (middle) and Elsbeth Eksteen (right). We share a passion for creativity, colour, texture, pattern, yarn and living life ‘succulently’ as Anisa would say, which include good food, good music, beautiful homes and heart-warming friendships.
Most of all, we share a love of crochet.
And that’s why we’re here (at hellohart.co) and hope that you will visit often, feel WELCOME and share in our passion.
We’ve planned so many exciting things for you.
The biggest yarn bomb in South Africa took place 1-2 August 2014 at the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria. More than a year ago, the organisers, Marlene Scheepers from http://www.oneofakindyarns.co.za and Este Beukes inspired knitters and crocheters from all over the country to contribute blocks in 2 sizes 20x20cm (19 050 required) and 15x15cm (3350 required).
After receiving a staggering 27 803 squares, not only from South Africa, but from all over the world, 657 blankets were made up and put on the steps of the monument. The blankets will, once removed, be distributed to various charities.
The short film below is about a visit to this historical event.
If you know me, you would know how much I love to make things. Not a day goes by that I don’t create something – either real or in my mind. To add to my joy, I was given the opportunity to design and make 20 exclusive items for Ideas Magazine’s stand-alone publication, Ideas Crochet / Idees Hekel.
I am overjoyed to say that the book is available from today. You can expect to find it at Exclusive Books, CNA, SPAR and Checkers, but also at firstname.lastname@example.org if you’d like to order it to avoid disappointment.
Only 15 000 copies are printed.
